Girlicious band member charged with having drugs

A member of the pop group Girlicious has been charged in California with drug possession with the intent to sell after Glendale police allegedly found a dozen plastic bags of cocaine in her Gucci purse.

Prosecutors say 21-year-old Natalie Mejia (of Diamond Bar and 28-year-old Peter Asencio of Burbank were charged Thursday in Glendale Superior Court.

Asencio is accused of speeding in a 1998 Ford Mustang when he and Mejia were pulled over and arrested Tuesday night.

Police say Mejia said the drugs were not hers and claimed she didn’t know how they got into her purse.

Asencio was also charged with driving on a suspended license.

Arraignment was continued to April 15.

Michael Jackson’s custom-made furniture for sale

The 22 pieces of custom-made furniture Michael Jackson commissioned for his London home are going on the auction block.

Darren Julien of Julien’s Auctions says a gilded red velvet sofa that seats nine, a leopard-print chair trimmed with ostrich feathers and a pair of velvet armchairs embroidered with gold eagles are among the offerings.

Jackson intended to use the furnishings during his “This Is It” comeback concert run in London.

Fans can visit a re-creation of the home at Las Vegas’ Planet Hollywood casino from June 14 to June 25 before the items are sold at auction.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit two charities: MusiCares, which provides health care and other services for struggling musicians, and Joshua’s Heart, which aims to end world hunger.

Sheen returning to Aspen in domestic violence case

Actor Charlie Sheen is returning to court in Aspen on domestic violence charges stemming from a Christmas Day dispute with his wife.

An arraignment is scheduled for Monday afternoon.

Sheen is accused of putting a knife to the throat of Brooke Mueller Sheen while they vacationed in Aspen. He has denied the allegations. He faces charges of menacing, criminal mischief and assault.

Sheen is the star of “Two and a Half Men” on CBS.

He voluntarily entered a rehab facility last month. His publicist, Stan Rosenfield, called it “a preventive measure” but didn’t say why Sheen sought treatment.

The couple say they want to reconcile. Last month, a judge modified a restraining order that barred them from any contact so they could meet.

Man who called for Elton John’s death arrested

A man who posted a video on YouTube of himself calling for Elton John’s death has been arrested for making terroristic threats.

Atlanta Police Sgt. Curtis Davenport says Neal Horsley was arrested for making terroristic threats early Wednesday in Carrollton, Georgia, about 50 miles west of Atlanta. Davenport would not say whom Horsley is accused of threatening.

Horsley’s son, Nathan Horsley, says he believes the arrest is connected to the video about the musician. Neal Horsley complains in the video about John’s comments in a magazine interview last month that Jesus Christ was gay.

Actor Corey Haim dead at 38

Eighties teen idol Corey Haim died Wednesday morning of an apparent drug overdose, according to Los Angeles police.

The Canadian-born actor, who starred in “The Lost Boys” but was probably best known for his roles with fellow actor Corey Feldman, was 38.

He was found unresponsive at his Oakwood apartment around 3:30 a.m.,according to KTLA-TV. His mother was at the apartment at the time of his death.

The actor, who has struggled with drug addiction, was pronounced dead at Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Burbank.

Police were called to the hospital just before 4 a.m. to investigate his death.

Police sources told CBS Haim’s death appeared accidental. Haim has been in and out of rehab and starred in a reality show with Feldman in 2007 called “The Two Coreys.”

He talked about his struggle with drugs - specificially prescription drugs.

“I started on the downers which were a hell of a lot better than the uppers because I was a nervous wreck. But one led to two, two led to four, four led to eight, until at the end it was about 85 a day - the doctors could not believe I was taking that much,” he told a reporter in 2007.

“And that was just the Valium - I’m not talking about the other pills I went through.”

Haim’s official website was last updated on Jan. 18 and promotes his upcoming film, a thriller titled “American Sunset.”

Fawcett’s son fights to stay sober

Redmond O’Neal, appearing in court Wednesday for a status hearing on his judge-ordered drug rehab, tells People that his late mother Farrah Fawcett is on his mind as he fights addiction.

“I’m doing great. I am focused on my recovery and plan not to let anything get in the way,” O’Neal, 25, says. “I am doing my best to make my mother proud.”

As part of the evaluation, L.A. Superior Court Judge Michael Tynan eliminated all home visits for O’Neal, who is in a one-year residential facility, telling him, “Right now, pal, you are still in trouble. You need to take a good look inside or nothing will ever change.”

Swedish rapper gets 15-to-life for L.A. killing

A Swedish hip-hop artist who ran down and killed a man at a Hollywood crosswalk has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.

David Moses Jassy, who also uses the name Dave Monopoly, was sentenced Thursday for second-degree murder and other crimes.

Prosecutors say the 35-year-old rapper killed John Osnes in November 2008 after the pedestrian activist banged on the hood of his rented SUV when it stopped in a crosswalk.

Authorities say the rapper punched the 55-year-old Osnes in the face, kicked him in the head and ran him over him as he drove away.

Jassy testified that he never intended to hurt Osnes.

Jassy claims to have sung with and written several songs for “High School Musical” star Ashley Tisdale.

Man arrested for allegedly stalking Dr. Drew

Police say they have arrested a man suspected of stalking TV and radio therapist Dr. Drew Pinsky and his family.

Police say they arrested 33-year-old Charles Pearson on Wednesday after Pinsky notified them of threats received by him and his family.

Jail records show Pearson is being held on $150,000 bail.

Campbell’s driver regrets involving police

The driver who accused supermodel Naomi Campbell of assaulting him said Thursday through his lawyer that he “got angry and overreacted” and regrets involving the police.

“This whole thing has been blown out of proportion and I apologize to Ms. Campbell for causing that to happen,” driver Miodrag Mejdina said.

Mejdina told police Tuesday that Campbell hit him from behind and his head struck the steering wheel of the car, causing bruising under his right eye. He pulled over in midtown Manhattan and got out to speak to a traffic agent, who alerted police. Campbell was not at the scene when officers arrived, police said.

Lorna Khoo of Cardstore.com and various other vendors exhibiting their wares at the Silver Spoon gift suite said the former vice presidential candidate visited the suite on Wednesday morning and snapped up organic soaps from Wembe, personalized stationery from Cardstore.com, leopard-print wedge sandals from Bandals, and a slinky robe from Jenna Leigh lingerie.

“I gave the same robe to Jennifer Aniston,” said Jenna Leigh, the designer whose label bears her name.

Gift suites spring up all over town during Hollywood’s awards season, offering free merchandise to any celebrities who happen to drop by in exchange for the promotional value their star power brings.
