Expert: Drugs likely killed Brittany Murphy

Brittany Murphy’s autopsy is complete.
While it is believed the actress, 32, died of natural causes, the LAPD is keeping the investigation open and now focusing on a possible overdose of prescription meds.
TMZ reviewed the leaked autopsy documents, which included information on what drugs the Clueless star had been taking. They included Topamax (anti-seizure meds that also prevent migraines), Methylprednisolone (anti-inflammatory), Fluoxetine (for depression), Klonopin and Ativan (anxiety), Carbamazepine (treats diabetic symptoms and is also a bipolar med), Vicoprofen and Hydrocodone (pain relievers), Propranolol (hypertension, used to prevent heart attacks) and Biaxin (antibiotic).
In a Tuesday interview on CBS’ The Early Show, forensic pathologist Dr. Cyril Wecht told Maggie Rodriguez he is convinced drugs were the culprit. “One [that she took] was involved with Michael Jackson, Ativan. One of them was a drug that was involved with Anna Nicole Smith, Klonopin.”
Wecht says that if pathologists at the coroner’s office had found something dramatic, like a heart attack or stroke, it would be public knowledge.
Toxicology reports will be available in five to six weeks.
