J. Lo sues ex-husband over sex movie

November 9th, 2009

Two years after winning a $545,000 judgment against him, singer-actress Jennifer Lopez has again sued her first husband, accusing him of planning to use video of their sex life in a tell-all movie.

In her lawsuit, Lopez says former husband Ojani Noa is shopping around to film industry players a movie with footage of Noa and Lopez in sexual situations, including their time in a hotel room during their 1997 honeymoon.

Lopez, who married singer Marc Anthony in 2004 and has two children with him, is seeking $10 million in damages and a court order preventing dissemination of any video showing her and Noa in intimate situations.

The lawsuit against Noa, which was filed on Friday, marks the second time Lopez has sued her first husband, a chef and model to whom she was married for less than 11 months.

Noa did not immediately respond to an e-mail seeking comment on the lawsuit.

Comedian Katt Williams’ latest arrest caps troubled year

November 9th, 2009

Atlanta comedian Katt Williams is being held in Coweta County jail, charged with burglary and criminal trespassing, a deputy confirmed.

He will be arraigned at 4 p.m. Monday, when bond will be set, the deputy said.

Williams, whose birth name is Micah Williams, was arrested early this morning — almost a year to the day of his arrest in New York City for gun possession. Those charges were dropped in June.

According to the Smoking Gun web site, a Coweta homeowner told authorities the comedian entered their residence and stole jewelry and other items.

Williams has been in and out of trouble this year. Shortly following his arrest last November Williams was admitted to a South Carolina psychiatric ward. His publicist at the time blamed his erratic behavior on exhaustion.

Williams’ credits include the comedy “First Sunday” and the Eddie Murphy film, “Norbit.”  He also headlined an HBO special, “Katt Williams: Pimp Chronicles Pt. 1,” shot in Atlanta.

Ummmm…Busted!

‘Big Brother 9′ winner due in court in drug case

October 30th, 2009

The winner of the reality TV show “Big Brother 9″ is headed to federal court for a detention hearing on a drug charge.

Adam Jasinski, of Delray Beach, Fla., is charged with attempting to sell 2,000 oxycodone pills. He is scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Boston Friday.

Jasinski was arrested in North Reading on Oct. 17 after he allegedly showed a government witness two plastic bags filled with oxycodone, a presciption painkiller that can cause dependance.

Jasinski won $500,000 on “Big Brother 9″ in April 2008. In an affidavit, a federal drug agent said the 31-year-old Jasinski told him he had been using his winnings on the CBS reality show to buy thousands of oxycodone pills and resell them along the East Coast.

Georgia Grand Jury won’t indict accused Cyrus stalker

October 29th, 2009

A grand jury on Wednesday refused to indict a 53-year-old man jailed since August on charges that he tried to stalk Miley Cyrus as the teen star filmed a movie on the Georgia coast.

The Chatham County grand jury decided prosecutors had insufficient evidence to charge Mark McLeod of Appling, Ga., in Superior Court, which hears felony cases.

A spokeswoman for District Attorney Larry Chisolm said he still plans to prosecute McLeod on two misdemeanor charges, attempted stalking and disorderly conduct, in a lower court.

Guess we’re moving to Georgia!

David Copperfield wins stay in assault lawsuit

October 28th, 2009

Magician David Copperfield has won a six-month stay in a lawsuit filed in July by a Seattle woman who contends Copperfield sexually assaulted her while she was a guest on his private island in the Bahamas.

U.S. District Judge John Coughenour stayed the case Tuesday so the U.S. attorney’s office in Seattle can complete a criminal investigation. Copperfield has denied the woman’s allegations.

Cooperfield said he was being put in the untenable legal position of having to provide information in the civil case that could be used against him in a criminal prosecution.

The Seattle Times describes the woman as a former Miss Washington USA contestant. She says she met Copperfield during a performance in Kennewick, Wash., and was invited to visit his island in July 2007.

Ex-Letterman Writer Claims Hostile Environment

October 28th, 2009

A former writer for David Letterman said she quit his NBC talk show in part because of alleged sexual favoritism and a hostile work environment.

Nell Scovell, writing for Vanity Fair online Tuesday, said she had no intention of filing a lawsuit and wasn’t seeking revenge.

“I wanted to shine a light on gender inequality in that particular workplace,” Scovell, who went on to a successful Hollywood career, said in a telephone interview.

In the Vanity Fair article, Scovell said Letterman didn’t “hit on her” during her roughly five-month stint with NBC’s “Late Night with David Letterman” in 1990.

“Did he pay me enough extra attention that it was noted by another writer? Yes. Was I aware of rumors that Dave was having sexual relationships with female staffers? Yes,” Scovell wrote.

Other high-level male employees were having sexual relationships with female staffers as well, she alleges, and the women gained professional benefits from those relationships.

“Did that make me feel demeaned? Completely. Did I say anything at the time? Sadly, no,” wrote Scovell, whose credits include writing for the series “Coach” and “Monk” and creating “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.” She’s also produced and directed.

Letterman, who moved to CBS in 1993 for “Late Show,” has admitted to workplace affairs that led to an alleged blackmail plot.

Officials from Letterman’s production company, Worldwide Pants, Inc., declined to comment Tuesday on Scovell’s article.

CBS News producer Robert J. “Joe” Halderman has pleaded not guilty to trying to extort $2 million from Letterman to keep some of the comedian’s sexual affairs quiet.

Scovell wrote she doesn’t intend to seek legal action. Instead, she said, she wants to call attention to the complete lack of women writers on all talk shows, whether hosted by Letterman or NBC’s Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien.

“I don’t want compensation. I don’t want revenge. I don’t want Dave to go down (oh, grow up, people). I just want Dave to hire some qualified female writers and then treat them with respect. And that goes for Jay and Conan, too,” she wrote.

She quit Letterman’s NBC show, Scovell wrote, because she saw “I was not going to thrive professionally in that workplace. And although there were various reasons for that, sexual politics did play a major part.”

When Letterman asked why she was leaving the New York-based show, she says she considered telling him the truth but balked because his “rumored mistress” was within earshot. Instead, Scovell writes, she told him she missed Los Angeles.

“You’re welcome back anytime,” Scovell recalls Letterman telling her.
