New Commercial Aims to Convince California Residents Sexual Orientation Shouldn’t Prohibit Marriage

Let California Ring, a new multi-million dollar ad campaign, will begin airing in major
California markets this Thursday. The commercial depicts a bride, trying to make her way down the aisle but can’t due to several outside forces, all while her groom stands watching. It ends with the tagline, “What if you couldn’t marry the person you love?”

The campaign, created by the gay rights advocacy organization, Equality California Institute and in association with dozens of other gay and civil rights groups says they are after
California residents who are on the fence concerning their views on same-sex marriages, hoping to sway people to see things from their side of the debate.
