Author, JK Rowling outs Harry Potter Character

While fielding questions at an event at Carnegie Hall in New York on Friday, acclaimed Harry Potter author, JK Rowling was asked if Dumbledore had found “true love.” Rowling then confirmed what many fans had long speculated, that the Hogwarts headmaster, Albus Dumbledore is in fact gay.

Rowling explained that Dumbledore had been let down by his love for Gellert Gringelwald, a rival wizard in the final book and stated, “Falling in love can blind us,” and that his love was his “great tragedy.”

Gay rights activist, Peter Tatchell is happy that Rowling wants to include gay characters in her novels, but is disappointed that Dumbledore’s sexual preference wasn’t more obviously stated throughout the series.
