Presidential Advisor and AIDS Physician, R. Scott Hitt Dies
R. Scott Hitt, a pioneering AIDS physician died on Thursday at the age of 49 from metastatic colon cancer.
Hitt was best known for serving as the Chair of the Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS under President Clinton. Hitt also founded several organizations to support the gay community as well as AIDS foundations throughout California.
Political strategist and civil rights activist, David Mixner, stated that Hitt was responsible for creating policies that saved lives. “He fought discriminations and was a powerful force within the Democratic Party,” he said. “We shall miss his voice.”
