Adoption Rights Granted to Israeli Gays
Since Israel decriminalized homosexuality in 1988 gay couples have gained access to most federal rights, and given the same benefits as straight employees.
Now a ruling by Attorney General Menachem Mazuz will give gay couples living in Israel full adoption rights, overturning the previously law stating that couples could only adopt if the child was biologically one of the partners.
Mazuz made the ruling on Sunday stating “We must adapt to the spirit of the times and the changes that are afoot.”
