TV Gets a Gay Superhero
Showtime, working with Stan Lee’s Pow! Entertainment, will produce a series about a gay superhero based on the book “Hero” by Perry Moore.
The secret identities of superheros have often been used as analogies for closeted homosexuals, but this concept brings that notion front and center, conquering the issue without the woolly veil - and live, in living color on your HD TV. Coming from the company that brought us the racy American version of Queer as Folk, this new series should prove to be provocative and fresh, appealing to both seasoned superhero lovers - hey, Michael Novotny, Hal Sparks character from from QAF, comes to mind - and those that just love a good story.
With Showtime’s track record of the last few years, this definitely sounds like a promising and highly anticipated series.
