Rally Held for Gay Marriage in R.I.
Some 150 people who support same-sex marriage rallied at the Rhode Island state house in Providence on Saturday, hoping to move legislators in the only New England state that does not allow same-sex couples to marry.
The rally took place two days after Republican governor Don Carcieri (pictured) spoke against gay marriage to an antigay group in Boston. Advocates do not expect the state to enact a marriage equality law this year, but they aim to send a message, according to the Providence Journal.
